Captiva is a collection of mug shots taken with a Polaroid Captiva camera. The photos are taken at public events and the subjects are individuals who briefly assume the identity of a popular culture icon, historical figure, fictional character or animal, or who are applying clothing or other miscellaneous details that create the impression of a costume or an exaggeration and layering of identity. They reflect a low tech transformation with the subjects having multiple identities. There are 185 individual photos in the collection.
